Do you like Trivia? Do you like collaborative team games full of
strategy? Do you like playing sports outside? Then you will dig
Triviaphile, my new game to promote Leigh Anderson's great new book The Games Bible.
Triviaphile
is simple: each round, a trivia question is announced over Twitter. The
questions all relate to rankings (like "name the top songs on the music
charts from 1985"). There are several bases, each posting an answer.
Your team must strategize and get players to each base to capture points
-- the higher the ranking of the answer, the more points your team
captures at the base ((#2 "Take On Me" by A-Ha > #98 "California Girls" by David Lee Roth). The trick is, your team must have the most players at that base to capture the points.
Anyone
on Twitter can participate and blast hints and answers to help the
players in Central Park. But each round only lasts 6 minutes so teams
must act quickly amid the chaos and curve balls.
Teams will be formed at Central Park, so feel free to come solo or bring 10 people along. We will meet at 2pm in front of Le Pain Quotidien behind Sheep Meadow and the game will be played at Mineral Springs.
